Stop Doing This in 2026 If You Want Clients

Okay bestie, let’s have a real talk moment. 💬

If you want more clients in 2026, there are some things we have to leave behind in 2025. Not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because the way we’ve been taught to market is honestly exhausting and outdated.

We see it all the time with small business owners. You’re showing up, posting, trying to stay consistent… and still wondering why it feels like you’re yelling into the void.

So let’s simplify this together. Here’s what we need to stop doing in 2026 if we actually want clients, not just content.

Stop trying to be everywhere at once

This is the biggest one.

Being on every platform does not make you more visible. It makes you more overwhelmed.

Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, email, blogs, stories, reels… no wonder you’re tired. When we spread ourselves too thin, nothing gets the attention it deserves.

What actually works is picking one main platform and showing up there consistently with intention. When you focus, your message gets clearer, your confidence grows, and your audience starts to trust you.

More platforms do not equal more clients. Clear messaging does.

Stop posting without a goal

Posting just to “stay active” is not a strategy.

If your content does not have a purpose, your audience will feel that. Every post should support one of these goals:

  • Build trust

  • Educate your audience

  • Start a conversation

  • Lead people to the next step

Before you hit post, ask yourself, “What do I want someone to do after reading this?” Clarity turns content into clients.

Stop chasing trends that do not fit your business

Trends can be fun, but they are not required for growth.

If a trend does not align with your brand, your audience, or your energy, it is okay to skip it. Trying to force yourself into trends that feel uncomfortable often leads to content that looks good but does nothing.

Evergreen content that answers real questions will always outperform a trendy post with no substance. Your ideal clients are not looking for viral. They are looking for help.

Stop overcomplicating your marketing plan

Marketing does not need to be complicated to work.

You do not need:

  • A 40 page strategy

  • Daily posting schedules

  • Fancy funnels right away

  • Perfect branding before you start

You need a simple plan you can actually stick to. One audience. One main platform. A repeatable content system. One clear call to action.

Simple is sustainable. Sustainable is profitable.

Stop talking to everyone

Trying to appeal to everyone is one of the fastest ways to repel the right people. When your message is too broad, no one feels seen. But when you speak directly to one person and their specific struggles, the right clients will lean in.

Instead of saying, “This is for small business owners,” try:

  • “This is for small business owners who feel overwhelmed by marketing”

  • “This is for service providers who want clients without burning out”

  • “This is for entrepreneurs who are tired of guessing what to post”

Specific language builds connection. Connection builds clients.

Stop measuring success by likes alone

Likes are nice, but they are not the full picture.

Some of the most effective content we see gets:

  • Fewer likes

  • More saves

  • More shares

  • More DMs and inquiries

Quiet engagement often leads to real results. Not every post that converts will look impressive on the surface. Focus on what moves people closer to working with you, not just what looks good publicly.

Stop waiting until everything is perfect

Perfection is one of the biggest client blockers.

Waiting until your website is perfect, your branding is flawless, or your confidence magically appears will keep you stuck. Clients connect with clarity and honesty, not perfection.

Imperfect action builds momentum. Momentum builds trust. Trust builds sales.

You are allowed to grow as you go.

What to do instead to get more clients in 2026

Let’s flip the script.

In 2026, we focus on:

  • Clear messaging over constant posting

  • One strong platform instead of many weak ones

  • Systems that support consistency

  • Content that answers real questions

  • Marketing that fits your life, not consumes it

When marketing feels simpler, showing up feels easier. And when showing up feels easier, consistency follows naturally.

Going into 2026 with intention

If there is one thing we want you to remember, it is this.

You do not need to do more to get clients. You need to do less, better.

2026 is about working smarter, not louder. Building trust, not chasing trends. And creating marketing that actually supports your business goals.

If you feel stuck or overwhelmed, that does not mean you are failing. It means you are ready for a simpler approach.

We’ve got you. 💕
